Deafheaven anuncian un álbum en directo para hacer frente a las cancelaciones

Deafheaven cumplen este año una década de vida como banda, un aniversario que les había motivado para celebrarlo con una gira especial. La cancelación de los conciertos de su "10 Years Gone Tour" por la situación provocada por el Covid-19 les ha dejado en una situación económica difícil, por lo que grabarán el directo en estudio y lo publicarán con el mismo nombre de la gira, "10 Years Gone".

"Vivimos exclusivamente de las giras, pero debemos avanzar pese a lo inesperado", se ha lamentado el grupo en un post de Instagram. En él ponerse manos a la obra cuanto antes para poder tener algo que ofrecer a sus fans, así que van a grabar temas de todos sus álbumes pasados para celebrar su década sobre los escenarios. "10 Years Gone" se puede reservar ya desde aquí, con una versión física en formato de vinilo doble de 12". También harán que el disco esté disponible en formato digital en cuanto esté listo. Su página pronostica que el material estará disponible para septiembre/octubre.

We are trying to make the best of a hugely difficult situation. It is extremely hard for bands to have to ask for help so we wanted to offer something special in return. However, the last 24 hours since the tour cancelation have been a whirlwind while we rearrange our year and take these losses. Touring is our sole livelihood, but we have to move forward through the unexpected. We've made some phone calls, gotten some exciting people on board and are going to give fans a glimpse of what we originally had in mind for the year while we work to reschedule tour dates. We will be live recording a set of material from all our albums and releasing it digitally. In addition, we have started a pre-order for a special Double LP release on vinyl of this material slated for later this year, along with merchandise that was to be sold on the tour. We don't even have an album cover yet. There's no press release. All I know is we're moving this into immediate action and turning this massive set-back around. Con las ventas del álbum, así como con las de merchandising, el grupo espera poder seguir adelante y continuar haciendo música. Su último larga duración apareció en 2018, bajo el nombre de "Ordinary Corrupt Human Love" (Anti, 18). Tras estas dificultades, el grupo espera poder programar nuevas fechas y grabar material nuevo.

Deafheaven es un grupo enmarcado en el blackgaze (así como uno de los principales representantes de esta corriente) originario de San Francisco, California. Tocan una amplia variedad de subgéneros asociados al metal y en sus diez años de historia han publicado ya cuatro LPs. Son uno de los muchos grupos que están buscando formas de reinventarse frente a la crisis del coronavirus -una situación muy difícil para los artistas que viven de la carretera, que son mayoría en un sector habitualmente atravesado por la precariedad.
