Muere el batería Travis Nelsen (ex Okkervil River)

La verdad es que, por desgracia, se acumulan las noticias sobre fallecimientos. Hoy se ha dado a conocer la muerte de Travis Nelsen, quien fuera batería de Okkervil River durante casi ocho años.

Las redes sociales de Okkervil River han dado a conocer la muerte de Travis Nelsen (segundo por la izquierda, en la fotografía), quien fuera batería de la banda desde 2003 a 2010, y a quien describen como un músico y persona muy generosa y apasionada.

Lo cierto es que no se han dado a conocer las causas de la muerte de Nelsen, aunque en ningún momento se ha comentado que haya sido por Coronavirus. La petición de los miembros de Okkervil River de donar dinero en su honor a la asociación Health Alliance For Austin Musicians lleva a pensar que Nelsen llevaba un tiempo en tratamiento.

Travis Nelsen, Okkervil River’s drummer from 2003-2010, passed away on Tuesday. He was a radiant, hilarious, charismatic, generous, passionate human being with a heart that was completely open and his special power was his ability to wrap his friends in love and to hurl himself out into the world with everything he had. And he played drums like no other person on earth. If you ever saw him play live you remember it - maybe more than anything else about the show. He was very very deeply loved by everyone in the Okkervil River family and by so many others. His family has very generously asked that in his honor you donate to Health Alliance for Austin Musicians or @myhaam, a wonderful organization that offers health care to working musicians living in Austin. Nelsen formó parte de la formación que grabó los fantásticos "Black Sheep Boy" (05) y "The Stage Names" (07), aunque sus baquetas también suenan en "The Stand Ins" (08) y el disco colaborativo con Roky Erickson "True Love Cast Out All Evil" (10). Nelsen también fue temporalmente batería de la banda Swearing At Motorists.
