Todo comenzó cuando Zola Jesus se unió al pionero de la música de la industria musical Jim Thirlwell, más conocido como Foetus, y a Mivos Quarter para una actuación en el Guggenheim de Nueva York. Allí se interpretaron los temas de Zola Jesus con nuevos arreglos creados por Thirlwell.
Pues bien, las grabaciones en estudio de estos temas reinventados por Thirlwell saldrán a la venta bajo el nombre de versiones el próximo 20 de agosto vía Sacred Bones. “Versions” es ir al hueso de la música. Tomando registros anteriores y dándoles un giro. Se le da a los temas un nuevo medio en el que desarrollarse y florecer en sus propios y pequeños mundos”, explica la británica sobre el proyecto.
Dana - I think the key word here is 'enjoyment', on whatever level that hpaepns to occur - story, style, character, etc. I think the more experimental literary writers have wandered off at a tangent, in which the writing has become an end in itself rather than a means of conveying a narrative. Shun them in the streets, they who declare 'story' naive or - worse - claim that 'all the stories have been told already'. A story doesn't have to have a moral, or - as Poe demonstrated in his short stories - anything as conventional as a beginning, middle and end. But almost by definition, the inherent conservatism of the crime / mystery genre lends itself to narrative - 'experiment' that drifts away from that undermines the whole point of crime writing.
