Joshua Tillman captó la atención de muchos sentado en la batería haciendo los coros de su antiguo grupo, Fleet Foxes, con quien tomó caminos separados para centrarse en su carrera en solitario. Una carrera más extensa de lo que imaginábamos y que se re-estrena ahora bajo un nuevo nombre: Father John Misty. Aunque de carácter santurrón –por lo de Father-, el disco tiene más bien poco (“Nancy From Now On”). Sus letras versan sobre la muerte, ciudades hiperpobladas, el éxito, el sexo y los anhelos que expiran lentamente. Que nadie espere encontrar una réplica de los barbudos de Seattle en “Fear Fun”, si bien no al completo –y se agradece que no se haya dedicado a copiarlos a destajo. Tillman bebe de influencias tan variadas como la versión más alcoholizada de Harry Nilson (“Tee Pees 1-12” te pondrá a bailar a lo Pulp Fiction), el folk pastoral al que nos tenía acostumbrados y pop rock digerible, cercano a Sam Roberts Band (“I’m Writing A Novel”). “Fear Fun” es como el encefalograma de un taquicárdico, con sus altibajos que le dan emoción a cada nuevo latido. “This Is Sally Hatchet” podría haber sido escrito en los setenta, capaz de embaucarte con su voz, para descolocarte en un segundo cn una nube psicotrópica. Interesante. Y más que eso. Un disco que gana con cada escucha, y que es capaz de dibujar vasos medio vacíos de whisky, cabañas cubiertas por nieve y dos amantes que se autodestruyen con la misma pasión con la que se aman, ya lo advierte en “Everyman Needs A Companion”.

However, his strengthening memories and the story of his family's dissolution suggest that the atomic bombings occurred first (the Smiths took refuge in a tube station), followed by civil war featuring confused street fighting in London itself , and the societal postwar reorganisation, which the Party retrospectively calls the Revolution .
